#78 Driven to Madness

In the sprawling megacity of Neo-Horizon, driving is already a nightmare. Aggressive Autopulse vehicles tailgate mercilessly, synthetic LED beams sear retinas, and horn-blaring drones enforce the ever-tightening grip of The Department of Civil Obedience.

But now, a new horror has emerged on the highways—one that drivers cannot escape.

A mysterious firmware update, forced into every vehicle by Omnivista Mobility, has turned car windshields into relentless advertising screens. The moment a driver enters their car, hyper-targeted ads—blaring, flashing, and unskippable—erupt across their field of vision. Steering-wheel sensors prevent eyes from straying, while subliminal triggers nudge the mind toward compliance.

Turning them off isn’t an option. Blocking them out? Impossible. Every attempt to remove the ads results in escalating consequences—first warnings, then auditory hallucinations, then… something far worse.

Whispers spread of those who tried to fight back. The Ghost Lane Collective, a rogue faction of digital saboteurs, claims that buried within the ads are more than just commercials—they are directives. Obey, and you survive.

Resist, and your car takes control. Accelerating. Swerving. Locking the doors.

People are vanishing from the roads, their vehicles found idling in remote locations—engines running, dashboards smeared with blood.

The billboards overhead simply change to new messages. New faces. New products.

You can try to stop watching. But your car never will.
