#15 The Green Faith

In the not-so-distant future, after the last oil rig ran dry and the great cities choked on their own fumes, a new force emerged from the ruins—The Verdant Order. They were once ordinary people: environmentalists, scientists, and activists who had long warned of humanity’s demise. But when governments collapsed under the weight of climate disasters, they filled the void. Their creed was simple—nature above all. Their methods, however, were anything but.

Now, the roads belong to the cyclists, armored in green and gold, patrolling the countryside with silent precision. Their bikes glide along paths lined with wind turbines and solar farms, their weapons held tight. Any trace of the old world—fossil fuels, plastic, non-recyclable waste—is met with ruthless purification. Those who resist are sent to The Composting Grounds, where their bodies are repurposed for the greater good. Some say The Order has found ways to turn human remains into fertilizer, feeding the very earth they swore to protect.

But there are whispers of dissent. Deep in the underground bunkers of the former world, survivors still cling to the shadows, smuggling relics of the past—gasoline, meat, books that preach an alternative to the Green Faith. They are known as The Polluters, heretics in the eyes of The Order. And for every whisper, there is a hunter, a masked enforcer with eyes like burning coals, ready to silence blasphemy in the name of the planet.

One such enforcer, Lior, has begun to question the path carved by their leaders. Once a devoted believer, he has seen the cost of The Order’s crusade—families torn apart, cities abandoned to nature’s reclaim, mercy replaced with efficiency. When he discovers an underground resistance cell, holding secrets that could shatter everything he knows, he must choose: remain a disciple of the green religion or risk everything to break the cycle of fanaticism.

Outside, the wind turbines hum like mechanical gods, and the sunflowers sway over a world that has traded its soul for survival. In this new era, the only sin is waste, and the only salvation is obedience.
